Me, a Dan Barrett

If you haven’t read part one then you probably should.

My name is Dan Barrett. In the past two years I’ve given a nice shout out to 104 Dan Barretts on the internet, one a week, on Fridays.

For the next phase of this important work I am going to revisit the Dan Barretts each week, in order. I can do this for the next two years.

To mark the end of phase one of Friday Dan Barretts, I’m going to go through the list of 104 and reminisce a bit. 104 is a lot of Dan Barretts so I’ve split the Dans into four groups of 26.

This is Dan Barretts 27 to 52. Let’s go.

I’ve been really supportive here for fishing grandparent Dan Barrett #27 because I am a nice guy. He responded.

Dan Barrett #28 has strong views about flute solos and I make a Jethro Tull reference because I know what I’m talking about. He responded.

I absolutely love this one. First, look at all those medals. Then, in a wonderful coincidence my friend Ryan’s kids know Dan Barrett #29, up in the North East of England. Also I make expert reference to the fastest fish. And the swimming club quote tweeted it saying “there only 2 Daniel Barretts”. Maybe it is my favourite.

Absolute feast to famine here with Dan Barrett #30 though. He responded at least.

Dan Barrett #31 is the first appearance of a fictional Dan Barrett. Again, my emoji game here is pretty strong.

Dan Barrett #32 looks to be doing some really important work.

Dan Barrett #33 is also doing some important work. Lots of Dan Barretts in the list making a positive contribution to society, and no estate agents. Also this Dan Barrett looks a bit like me I reckon.

Dan Barrett #34 is good at writing.

I notice that Dan Barrett #35 has changed his Twitter bio and profile picture. He still has a good beard though.

Dan Barrett #36 did a good thing for charity. There’s always a risk that a Dan Barrett has been shouted out to twice by accident and this one is a prime candidate. He might have done heinous crimes too, I have no way of knowing. Sometime you just have to embrace uncertainty.

Getting unorthodox here with a historical Dan Barrett from the 19th century. Guess I’m going to have to access some Irish archives when I shout out to Dan Barrett #37 again.

Dan Barrett #38 has some huge trucks.

Dan Barrett #39 works with data and so do I which makes him alright in my book.

This one was really nice. Dan Barrett #40 isn’t on social media but a colleague of his at the ACLU of Connecticut saw this, passed it on, and confirmed that Dan appreciated the shout out. This is another Dan doing really important work.

Dan Barrett #41 is fairly big on Instagram as I recall. Also to reiterate that he does sick and radical rational-thought-defying stunts on a scooter.

Dan Barrett #42 is another Dan who helps people.

This one is absolutely lovely, really made me happy. I hope Dan Barrett #43 and his husband Marc are well.

Dan Barrett #44 helps people as well. Emoji nod to California there too.

Dan Barrett #45 is the second fictional Dan Barrett, but the first one that I created myself. Also the second shout out across time and space. I thought this was neat. It took a while to write — longer than, say, scouring the internet for a Dan Barrett who wasn’t a murderer — which is why I didn’t do very many of these.

Nice to unearth a Dan Barrett on Twitter, a well I thought had run dry as a bone by this point. Dan Barrett #46 responded too.

Looking further into Dan Barrett #47’s career history it looks like he’s estate agent adjacent, but I’ll give him a pass. It also looks like you could make an inspirational sports business film about Dan’s work bringing the Pelicans to New Orleans, maybe starring George Clooney.

More healthcare here from Dan Barrett #48.

Dan Barrett #49 and his brother Paul look like nice lads and are also based around part of Hampshire where I used to live. I never ran into Dan. I reckon I’m a bit older than him to be fair.

Dan Barrett #50 was head coach of the first professional American Football team to have a black head coach and black general manager.

Dan Barrett #51 is very healthy and positive and he seems to be having a whale of a time with his mates on his Twitter feed.

I’m a big fan of Dan Barrett #52, particularly because there is a memorial to him in East London and I worked out where it is all by myself using the vague description on the internet and a map. I am going to make a pilgrimage.

There have been definite developments in this part, with some creative entries.

What happened next is going to shake the very foundations of your soul…

Thanks for reading.
